The Guardians bashed the Tigers 8-4 in their series opener from Detroit. Jose Ramirez launched a pair of home runs and finished with three RBI. Bo Naylor also went deep with a three-run shot. Cleveland has won back-to-back games to remain first in the AL Central at 64-and-42. The Guardians will try to sweep the two-game set this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Guardians and Nationals struck a deal. Cleveland traded for outfielder Lane Thomas from Washington in exchange for prospects Alex Clemmey, Jose Tena and Rafael Ramirez Jr. Thomas is batting .253 with eight home runs and 40 RBI in 77 games this season. He hit 28 homers last season.
