Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry says he “can’t wait to be sued” over his approval of a bill that mandates the display of the 10 Commandments in all public classrooms.
The Republican signed off on the legislation Wednesday, making Louisiana the first U.S. state to require all public schools and universities to display the Biblical list.
The move comes 30 years after the Supreme Court shot down a similar law in Kentucky on the grounds that it violated the First Amendment’s prohibition of laws “respecting an establishment of religion.”
