Shane Bieber was in midseason form as the Cleveland Guardians shut down the Oakland A's 8-0 on Opening Day from Oakland Coliseum. Bieber struck out 11 and held Oakland to four hits over six scoreless innings to pick up his first win. Cleveland scored five runs in the fourth to get the lead early. David Fry led the way at the plate with three hits and an RBI. Brayan Rocchio drove in a pair of runs and Jose Ramirez knocked in a run off an RBI triple. Cleveland opens the fresh season 1-and-0 and will continue the four-game series tonight.
