Hertz is selling off a giant chunk of its fleet of electric vehicles and replacing them with gas-powered cars.
The rental company will sell 20,000 EVs - about 1/3rd of its global fleet - including Tesla, Chevy, and Polestar models.
CEO Stephen Scherr cited higher expenses for damage and depreciation as reasons for the switch.
The move comes just two years after Hertz announced plans to convert 25% of its fleet to electric vehicles by the end of this year.
