No, dogs attacking mail carriers isn’t some trope, and it happens way more than you might think.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) shared there were over 5,300 reported dog attacks on mail carriers in 2022.
This statistic was shared as part of USPS’s National Dog Bite Awareness Week, which begins on June 4.
USPS advises owners to keep their dogs inside the house, behind a fence, away from a door/in another room, or on a leash when a mail carrier visits a residence.
