The Justice Department is seeking to block JetBlue's $3.8 billion deal to buy Spirit Airlines.
A lawsuit filed in federal court on Tuesday claims the deal would harm consumers and raise airfare prices.
The Department of Transportation is also opposing the deal, declining a request to allow the airlines to operate as a 'combined entity' before the deal is finalized.
