Ohio authorities have decided against charging a Sydney man in the shooting death of his daughter's ex-boyfriend.

Shelby County Prosecutor Tim Sell says although charges against the unidentified man were submitted, a grand jury rejected them. In explaining the decision, the grand jury cited the state's "Stand Your Ground" law that allows homeowners to use lethal force when they feel threatened, Sell says.

A video released by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office shows 22-year-old James Rayl banging on the family's door on July 31st. A voice from inside can be heard telling Rayl to go away, adding that his ex-girlfriend didn't want to see him. When Rayl attempts to break down the door, three shots can be heard -- and Rayl collapses after taking a few steps away from the door. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
