BRONX, NY -- Guardians' first basemen Josh Naylor made a speedy recovery from a gruesome leg injury last season and is beginning to look comfortable in the batter's box. Naylor had the Guardian's lone hit going into the late innings, launching a two-run blast in the 5th inning. Cleveland rookie left fielder Steven Kwan appeared to be injured in the left-field corner, as Yankee fans began to shout slurs and throw garbage, with center fielder Myles Straw reacting immediately by climbing the sidewall and shouting back to New York Fans. Gleyber Torres poked a game-winning walk-off single as the bleacher creatures in right-center began to throw beer bottles and garbage at the Guardians outfield. Cleveland's bench cleared out as they escorted their men back to the dugout as the crowd went wild.
Cal Quantrill gave his club a strong outing in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon, tossing 6.1 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 6 hits, striking out a pair of Yankees hitters. Guardians' reliever Enyel De Los Santos made a case to stay on the MLB roster, striking out two hitters in .2 innings.
The Cleveland Guardians will go wheels up as they head to the West Coast to begin a four-game series against the Angels. The first pitch on Monday evening is set for 9:38 pm ET at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim, in Anaheim, California.
