Browns Rookie CB Greg Newsome II Preparing for NFL's Best Offense

On if it feels like it has been a long time since he reported to training camp in July:

“For sure. I feel like I have been here for a year already. It has been fun. It has been a lot of work, but we are finally getting to the real action. It is going to be fun.”

On what has changed since he arrived at training camp:

“Nothing much really. Just been keeping the same mentality. Just working hard and just showing myself and proving to myself that I belong. That is what I have just been doing this whole time.”

On if there was a point where defensive coordinator Joe Woods, defensive backs coach Jeff Howard or Head Coach Kevin Stefanski said he was starting at Kansas City:

“No, not really. He just told us yesterday in meetings that I was. Before that, me and (CB) Greedy (Williams) both were preparing to be the starters, both competing against each other and both rooting for each other.”

On who told him he would start this week:

“DB coach – Coach Howard.”

On what stands out to him most from watching film of the Chiefs:

“They are just a very talented offense in general. They have a lot of great players on offense so it is definitely going to be a fun game.”

On what went through his mind when he first saw the Browns would face the Chiefs in Week 1:

“It was definitely super exciting. What a way to start off your rookie season? Definitely super excited to have the opportunity to play a team like that.”
