(Cleveland, OH) - Jared Plesec, a former Salvation Army volunteer, was only 21 when was killed on Cleveland’s East side in 2018. His family and friends have continued to keep his memory alive.
The life and legacy of 21-year-old Jared Plesec will be remembered and celebrated at the first ever, donation-based New Old World Festival on East 185th Street this month.
Since the 1970s, the city’s neighborhood festival, formerly known as the 185th Old World Festival, brought together businesses, neighbors and friends for a days-long celebration. Local bars and restaurants, sponsors and supporters gave money and time to make the festival a 29-year success.
In 2006, the festival significantly downsized. One year later, it was cancelled, leaving a hole in the community that has yet to be filled. Until now.
The Jared Plesec New Old World Festival will collaborate with businesses like Cebars Euclid Tavern, who’s more than ready to pick up where they left off. The donation-based fundraiser will be held annually again, this time benefiting the Grovewood Salvation Army and VASJ High School.
On August 29, the fundraiser will feature raffles, auctions, craft vendors and complimentary food with music provided by multiple bands including The Hobo Band, Eddie Rodick, Frank Stanger, Ron Sluga, Vocal Point, Dogwater and more. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 595 E. 185th Street.
