(Cleveland, OH) - The Keep Wickliffe Beautiful Commission, which is dedicated to improving the beauty, cleanliness and safety of the city, donated money to plant trees along the front lawn of City Hall to carry along the mission of planting more trees within in the City.
In past, Wickliffe had earned theTree City USA designation from the national Arbor Day Foundation.
However, Mayor John Barbish said recently to the Lake County News Herald that tree planting is one of the things the city has gotten away from.
The upcoming repaving of Roberts Road and other roads will also include tree planting, as Mayor Barbish emphasizes that more than half of the residents want trees planted on roads that are resurfaced.
With the goals of cleanliness, safety and fiscal actions in mind, the city has participated in as many community cleanups as possible. Composting is also encouraged.
