On September 18, 2021, thousands of people will gather on the near west side of Cleveland to participate in or watch the 41st Annual St. Malachi Church Run and Walk, which makes the Malachi event Cleveland’s largest 2021 Irish celebration! This Cleveland tradition which is sponsored by Onix, a leading cloud solutions provider and cloud consulting company located in Lakewood. The event features a festive morning with an 8:00AM Mass, a 5 mile or a 2 mile walk / run course and an after Hooley celebration at Mulberry’s, which is sponsored by Great Lakes Brewing Company! The race supports St Malachi Parish, which boasts a 156 year history of serving the marginalized of the near west side of Cleveland.
This year we are honored to have "Kickin it with Kenny", Kenny Crumpton from Fox 8 as our Honorary Chair! Kenny will be starting the races, so be sure to kick off your celebration with Kenny!
In 2018 through 2020, the event raised over $50,000 each year, for a total of $153,000.In 2017, when the race was under different management, the Church raised over $6,000.
The Run includes a Diversity Program where approximately 325 inner city children get to participate in the Run through a program with the YMCA. St. Malachi lets these children participate in the Run with no profits going to the Parish.
The Legacy Sponsor is Judge Daniel Gaul, Court of Common Pleas. The Gaul family has sponsored the Run for all 41 years.
The post race Hooley is at Mulberry’s sponsored by Great Lakes Brew Company including a complimentary Great Lakes brew for run participants and a pipes and drums performance.
