Ohio Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman is about to ride off into the political sunset. Portman announcing today he will not seek re-election in 2022 ending a career in federal government which has spanned more than 30 years.
Portman is among established Washington Republicans who struggled with supporting former President Trump.
Portman also recently said Trump should bear 'some responsibility' for the breach of the U.S. Capitol January 6.
He says he wants to hear both sides in the upcoming impeachment trial of Trump before deciding how to vote.
Portman has served ten years as a Senator and was a member of the House of Representatives for twelve years.
