Cavs Roll Past Hornets 121-114 to Begin the Regular Season

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Cleveland Cavaliers kickstarted their 2020-2021 season against the visiting Charlotte Hornets. After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Cavs caught fire, outscoring the Hornets by 20 points. Despite a late push by Charlotte, the Cavaliers held were able to hang on and secure the 121-114 win over the Hornets.

Third-year guard Collin Sexton gave his team confidence on the offensive side of the ball with an impressive 18 point first half. Sexton finished the game with 27 points on 9-16 shooting. The newly acquired Javale McGee brought controlled chaos to the game on the defensive end if the floor, and also contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.

Former Shaker Heights star Terry Rozier had himself a homecoming party in the season opener, leading all scorers with an eye popping 42 points. Rookie point guard Lamelo Ball struggled significantly in his NBA debut, finishing the game with 0 points and three turnovers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers get off to a 1-0 start to the season and will now prepare for the Detroit Pistons. Cleveland and Detroit will face off on Saturday, December 26th, tip-off set for 7:00 pm ET at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Check out highlights from tonight's game below!
