(Tallmadge) - Governor Mike DeWine's announcement Tuesday that there will be no full county fairs after this Friday means you have only one chance this summer to attend a fair in Northeast Ohio.
The Summit County Fair, in Tallmadge, will be open through Sunday. It opened two days before the Governor's cutoff date.
Operators of the Summit County Fair say they had already made concessions to dealing with COVID-19. All visitors will be required to wear face masks. Capacity will be limted to 5.000 people per day. Grandstand capacity will be limited to half capacity. Rides will be sanitized every two hours. Some events have been canceled.
The Governor says any county or independent fair starting on or after this Friday can be a junior fair only, limited to exhibitions by young people, including those in organizations such as FFA and 4-H. Those exhibitions will be open only to family members. The Lorain, Medina, and Lake County Fairs had already decided to go that route. The Cuyahoga County Fair has been postponed until next year.
