Cavs Edge Spurs in Overtime to Snap 8-Game Losing Skid

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The San Antonio Spurs, who were trailing for most of the game, came storming back in the fourth quarter to take a rare lead over the Cavs with only a few minutes remaining. Coach Beilein was facing a 3-point deficit with 10 seconds remaining in the game as he drew up a final play for the Cavaliers. Cleveland attempted to find Nance in the post coming out of the timeout, but the inbound pass was tipped, before being swung out to Kevin Love, as Love nailed a game-tying three with seven seconds remaining to force the Spurs into their third consecutive overtime game. The Cavs came out red-hot in overtime, jumping out to a 5-0 run, before closing out a fatigued Spurs squad by the final score of 117-109.

The Cavaliers maintained a double-digit lead throughout most of the game, as they rode the hot hand of Kevin Love. The Cavaliers star big man was knocking down shot after shot, finishing the game with a season-high 30 points, pulling in an impressive 17 boards. Love finished the game shooting an efficient 11-24 from the field. Despite only scoring 2 points, John Henson seemed to find his rhythm, protecting the rim with all his mite in his 12 minutes of play. Jordan Clarkson was the go-to-guy off the Cavaliers bench, lighting up the Spurs for 28 points, knocking down 10 out of 18 shot attempts.

The Cavaliers brought the energy in overtime to close out a Spurs squad that had played in back-to-back overtimes before today. Thursday's victory snapped an 8-game losing streak for the Cleveland Cavaliers, as they move to 5-19 on the season. The Cavs will get a much deserved day off on Friday before taking on the Milwaukee Bucks on saturday night. Tip-off is set for 830 pm ET at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday evening.
