John Carney is an adventure seeker, podcast host, keynote speaker and author of Real Estate is a Team Sport: The 9 Players You Need to Profit, as well as co- author of, 10,000 Miles to the America Dream. He grew up in a family of real estate developers and investors who bootstrapped their way to success. John’s number one value is hard work and he believes investors who build relationships with their teams generate the best results.
Originally from Cleveland, John moved to Melbourne, Australia, with his Australian wife in 2009, where he founded, America Property Source PTY LTD, in Melbourne, Victoria. APS advised Australian property investors on how to accelerate their wealth through U.S. real estate investments. He also formed a partnership that subdivided lots and built new homes in Geelong and Torquay. John is an experienced real estate investor and developer in Australia, Indonesia, and multiple markets in the United States. He currently holds an Ohio real estate sales license and has a BA in Political Science from Miami University.
After seven years of living in Australia, John moved back to his hometown of Cleveland in 2016 to work on new multifamily development and acquisitions with The Landmark Companies. In July 2017, Landmark purchased the Quay 55 apartment building just east of Burke Lakefront Airport. Landmark rebranded the property as The Shoreline and added 29 new units to the existing 2nd floor garage and vacant 1st floor storage space. Landmark is now purchasing 4.5 acres vacant land east of The Shoreline with plans to build 214 new apartments creating Cleveland’s first lakefront multifamily campus.
John and his wife, Leah, are active, athletic parents who enjoy introducing their children, Xavier and Molly, to the outdoors, action sports and travel. John is an avid CrossFitter, competes in Spartan Races and loves to ski and surf. He loves taking on the challenge of helping others succeed.
The Shoreline Phase II site plan by The Landmark Companies has received preliminary approval by the Cleveland Planning Commission near E. 55th along the lake shore.
