GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Put a W in the win column. The Cleveland Indians picked up their first win of Cactus League exhibition play holding off the Colorado Rockies 5-3 on Tuesday at Salt River Fields.
Daniel Johnson and Carlos Santana led the charge offensively for the Tribe. Johnson homered and tripled, while Santana delivered a 2-run homer in the sixth inning to put the Indians up 4-1 over the Rockies.
The Indians used eight pitchers total on the day and only gave up three runs.
The Tribe gets back to Cactus League action on Wednesday for a pair of split-squad games in Goodyear and Maryvale.
Former Indians right-hander Josh Tomlin will start for the Milwaukee Brewers in Maryvale against the Tribe.
