The Indians Help on Hunger Action Day

(Cleveland ) -The Cleveland Indians provided service to their community on Friday, by helping Lift Up America fight domestic hunger on Hunger Action Day.Through a generous donation from Tyson Foods, presenting sponsor Insurance Partners Agency volunteered in distributing 35,000 pounds of protein through the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s member agencies in the region.

Indians reliever Andrew Miller was on hand to help with the distribution. Miller loaded 50 large boxes of chicken onto a truck, with the help of Tribe mascot Slider and other volunteers. The event carries significance due to the great need in our area to combat hunger:· More than one in five children and one in six people in Greater Cleveland lives in a food insecure household.· Cleveland has one of our nation’s highest rates of child poverty.· The Food Bank provides meals for 247,000 people a year and is an important lifeline.
