Ohio Department Of Health Declares Outbreak Of Hepatitis A

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Department of Health has declared a statewide community outbreak of Hepatitis A. 

The Department says the number of reported cases in the state has nearly doubled since last year. Their reporting 79 cases associated with the outbreak so far in 2018.

Hepatitis A is a liver disease that can be spread by ingesting food or water contaminated by feces or through sexual contact. The O.D.H. has provided over 5,000 doses of a vaccine to local health departments.

Some symptoms related to hepatitis a are stomach pain, low appetite, nausea, and fatigue.
