"Big Game" Shields & White Sox Defeat Indians 5-1

Chicago--Here's a headline you are not used to hearing; the Indians lose to the Chicago White Sox 5-1. And James Shields won a game! His first win since Opening Day and his first victory against the Cleveland Indians in over four seasons. 

Indians' starter Adam Plutko, who was recalled from Triple-A Columbus hours before first pitch was rocked in the first inning. Moncada, Sanchez and Davidson drove in runs in the first inning. 

Plutko settled in after the first but was responsible for all five runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings, suffering his first major league loss as a starter.

Meanwhile, Shields only gave up one run and four hits while pitching 101 pitches in seven innings. 

Jose Ramirez got a sacrifice fly in the sixth to bring home Francisco Lindor. The Indians also made a late run in the ninth with runners at first and third. However, the White Sox closed out with closer Xavier Cedeno on the mound and Joakim Soria retiring Yan Gomes on the final at-bat.

Indians face the White Sox Wednesday night for Game 3 of this 4 game set. RHP Trevor Bauer (5-4, 2.62 ERA) of the Indians will face White Sox's RHP Dylan Covey (2-1, 2.22 ERA).
