(CLEVELAND) - According to a press release, at approximately 4:15pm on Wednesday, June 6th, a small, brown tabby kitten with white paws was stolen from the Cleveland Animal Protective League.
The kitten, Candice, is only 11 weeks old and weighs approximately 2 pounds.
“The kitten was stolen from our adoption floor,” said Ayse Dunlap, Director of Operations for the Cleveland APL. “She’s on medication and it’s critical that we get her back; she’s already missed two days of her medicine.”
The APL has video of the family stealing the kitten.
The female is Caucasian and likely in her late teens or early twenties, roughly five feet tall. The male, also Caucasian, is tall with red hair, also likely in his late teens or early twenties.
The couple was with three pre-teen boys.
In the video, the family is seen leaving the building on foot, so it’s possible they live near the APL’s Tremont location.
“We are requesting the community’s help in recovering this kitten,” said Dunlap. “We hope someone knows where this kitten is and will do the right thing and return her to the shelter so she can continue getting the medication she needs.”
UPDATE 4:45 p.m. Friday 6/8. Carmen Rey with the Cleveland Animal Protection League has notified WTAM 1100 that Candice was just returned and is in good health.
