ATHENS - Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed Eileen Sheil, executive director of corporate communications for the Cleveland Clinic, to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.
Sheil’s term began May 24, 2018; it will end May 13, 2027. She fills the expired term of former OHIO Trustee Janetta King.

She also serves as the Cleveland Clinic’s chief spokesperson and is a voting member of the Innovation Management & Conflict of Interest Committee.
Additionally, Sheil is a guest columnist for PR Week’s online publication and a faculty member of the Cleveland Clinic Sampson Global Leadership Academy. She is also a member of the Arthur Page Society and the non-profit group of the International Association of Measurement and Evaluation of Communication (AMEC).
"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Eileen to the board,” said Ohio University Board of Trustees Chair Dave Scholl. “She is widely respected for her expertise in communications and thought leadership within the healthcare industry; we are fortunate that she is joining OHIO’s board.”
Sheil has worked in the communications industry for 25 years, the vast majority within healthcare. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and a master’s degree in public administration from Cleveland State University.
“We welcome Eileen as our newest trustee and look forward to working with her as we advance Ohio University,” said Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis.
