CLEVELAND – The Cavaliers have taken care of business at home and even the Eastern Conference Finals 2-2 with a 111-102 win at the Q. The Cavs came out on fire, taking a 34-18 lead after the 1st quarter. After that, the Celtics won every other quarter, but the Cavs held on and scraped their way to a win.
Cavs led by as many as 19 points, but the Celtics were able to cut that down to 7. However, the Cavs found a way to come up with defensive stops and key baskets when they needed them. Larry Nance Jr. came off the bench and sparked a 7-0 run in the 3rd quarter to push the Cavs lead back up to 15 points.
The Cavs helped keep Boston in the game; they just could not seem to put them away when they had their chances. The Cavs had 18 turnovers in this game, when the Celtics only had 9.
The Cavs were led by LeBron James with 44 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Also stepping up for the Cavs, George Hill with 13 points, Tristian Thompson 13 points and 12 rebounds, and JR Smith 9 points, all coming from behind the arch. Kevin Love really struggled offensively tonight and got into foul trouble. Love, however, came up with some big defensive stops and rebounds late in the game. Kevin had 9 points and 11 rebounds. Coming off the bench, Kyle Korver was hot yet again with 14 points and 3 blocks. Larry Nance Jr added 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks of his own.
Leading the way for the Boston Celtics were Jaylen Brown 25 points, Jayson Tatum 17 points, terry Rozier 16 points, Al Horford 15 points, and Marcus Morris 10 points. All five starters for the Celtics scored in double digits. Coming off the bench for Boston, both Baynes and Smart had 8 points.
This Series will head back to Boston for Game 5 on Wednesday May 23 at 8:30pm. The Boston Celtics are 9-0 this Postseason at home, but the Cavs will look to steal that road win and come home Friday looking to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals.
