(Washington) - Gina Haspel has won bi-partisan support from U.S. Senate members as President Trump's nominee for C.I.A. Director.
She, however, was greeted by a group of protesters on Capitol Hill Wednesday as she entered a Senate committee hearing room.
Haspel, who has spent her entire career in the C.I.A., was the head of a covert detention facility in Thailand where terror suspects endured waterboarding, a technique which gives the suspects a feeling that they are drowning.
When asked by U.S. Senator Mark Warner if she would do something to a terror suspect she found morally objectionable,
Haspel responded she would not allow any activity she though was immoral, even if it was technically legal. It appears Haspel will win nomination despite the concerns of the waterboarding issue.
