"The Last Summer" is being filmed in Cleveland

(Cuyahoga County) - Cleveland's going Hollywood this week as another movie starts filming in the city.  

Crews with the movie "The Last Summer" started shooting this morning and plan to continue until midnight near East 40th and Prospect Avenue. 

Executive producer Mark Johnson says it's a coming of age film that will be released next year. It stars C.J. Apa who played Archie in the CW series "Riverdale".

Johnson tells Newsradio wtam 1100, "The Last Summer" is the 5th film he was produced in Cleveland. 

He says the city's architecture provides wonderful settings, and the city and the state have provide great financial incentives to film here. 

Johnson reports they have hired many local actors and technicians for the production, and are using many Cleveland businesses. 

Also shooting in the area is "I See You, a detective movie starring Helen Hunt. It's being filmed in Lakewood. 

"Native Son", another coming of age film, starring Sanaa Lathan, just wrapped up shooting in Cleveland and Shaker Heights.
