(Cleveland) - Forty-one year old Christopher Whitaker is being sent to Ohio's death row. The child killer was handed that fate Monday by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Carolyn Friedland.
Judge Friedland accepted a jury's recommendation and sentenced Whitaker to death for the brutal kidnapping, rape and murder of 14-year old Alianna Defreeze.
The teenager was kidnapped after getting off a bus while on her way to school in January, 2017 near E. 93 and Kinsman Avenue.
The young girl was tortured before she was killed. Defreeze's body was found three days later inside a vacant home on Cleveland's Fuller Avenue.
Whitaker was convicted of aggravated murder, rape, kidnapping and other charges last month.
