The Rock Hall generates millions of dollars

(Cleveland) - With the 2018 induction ceremony just days away, city leaders are talking about the economic impact the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame has on northeast Ohio.

At a Tuesday news conference, Rock Hall president Greg Harris announced that the ceremony is expected to have more than a $16 million impact alone this April. That compares with a $15.6 million impact from the 2012 induction ceremony.

However, Harris says the global media impact this year is projected to be over $30 million.

Starting in April the Rock-N-Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Cleveland every two years.

Overall, the Rock Hall is one of Cuyahoga County's top 40 employers, supporting more than 1,800 jobs.

The total yearly economic impact of the Rock Hall is estimated at $199 million, generating $13.4 million in state and local taxes, $2.9 million in local sales taxes, and $1.2 million in bed taxes.

There was $127 million dollars in direct visitor spending in 2017 alone.

The 33rd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, is set for Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Cleveland’s historic Public Hall.

There will be a series of events, including a community celebration with free admission to the Rock Hall, and other rock and roll themed events and activities at the Rock Hall and throughout the City.

The Induction Ceremony was previously held in Cleveland in 1997, 2009, 2012, and 2015.
