(Cleveland) - Mayor Frank Jackson and Chief of Police Calvin Williams announced today that discipline has been rendered regarding an in-custody death which occurred in November of 2014.
Two Cleveland police officers have been punished in connection with the death of a woman who died in their custody.
Officer Scott Aldridge was suspended today for ten days and officer Bryan Myers was issued a written warning.
Tanisha Anderson, who suffered from mental illness, died in the driveway of a family member's home in November 2014 following a scuffle.
A Cuyahoga County Jury cleared officers Aldridge and Myers in February of any criminal wrongdoing in the incident.
“The decisions announced today have a profound effect not only on our community, but on the men and women of the Division of Police as well,” said Police Chief Calvin Williams. “These are difficult times; in the weeks, months and years ahead, our officers will work to provide the best service to our community.”
