(CLEVELAND) – Omar Vizquel is the Detroit Tigers new first base coach, but on Saturday, June 21 he’ll be honored by the team he enjoyed a Hall of Fame career with. The Cleveland Indians announced on Tuesday that Vizquel will be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame this upcoming season.

The induction ceremony will take place June 21, when the Tigers are in Cleveland for a three-game weekend series.

Vizquel, an 11-time Gold Glove Award Winners and three-time All-Star will go into the Hall of Fame with longtime Indians broadcaster Jimmy Dudley.

“I never thought that I could belong to a prestigious group of players that have given everything to the city of Cleveland in an Indians uniform,” Vizquel said in a press release. “My priority always was the game and to enjoy it as much as possible. I’m honored by this and to have had the chance to play for the Indians.”

Vizquel will be at TribeFest this upcoming weekend along with former teammates Jim Thome and Charles Nagy, as well as with other Indians current players, including Nick Swisher, Michael Bourn and Jason Kipnis.
