(BEREA) – The Cleveland Browns selected defensive end Barkevious Mingo with the sixth overall pick of the NFL Draft during Thursday’s first round. Mingo, a defensive end, played at Louisiana State University.

Heading into Thursday’s first round Mingo was certainly a target for the Browns, but multiple reports said Cleveland may trade back into the first round or draft West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.

Left tackle Eric Fisher out of Central Michigan was the first overall selection by the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night.

The Browns currently do not have a second round pick.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam was on hand at Browns Headquarters on Thursday for the NFL Draft evening despite his company Pilot Flying J being under federal investigation.
