VIDEO: Two Hatchings in Eagle Nest Behind School in Avon Lake

(Avon Lake) - Stars and Stripes, the bald eagle pair that has lived for years behind Redwood Elementary School in Avon Lake, have now hatched two eggs. According to eagle watchers, the first eaglet hatched Tuesday, April 9, at 6:41 a.m., and the second one hatched Wednesday, April 10 at 7:30 a.m.

Since building their nest behind Redwood Elementary in 2015, Stars and Stripes have been parents to 23 eaglets, including the ones just hatched. They have one more eggs in the nest as of this writing. The eaglets usually hatch in April and as they grow, will become fledglings, leaving the nest, in August.

If you want to learn more about the eagles, the Avon Lake Public Library is hosting an exhibit featuring photos of the eagles. The exhibit runs through April 24.
