(Streetsboro) - Charges are pending in a Thursday morning head-on crash that killed a Kent man on State Route 43 in Streetsboro.

According to Streetsboro Chief of Police Tricia Wain, Streetsboro 911 Dispatch received multiple reports of a head-on crash on Route 43 just south of Kennedy near Streetsboro's southern city limits. When officers arrived, they found two severely damaged Honda Accords blocking both lanes of 43.

Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a northbound red 2019 Honda Accord illegally passed slower moving cars and crashed head on into a southbound black 2010 Honda Accord.  The driver of the black Honda, a 63-year-old man from Kent was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries. The driver of the red Honda is in the hospital with what are called "significant" injuries.

Streetsboro Police say the at fault driver was illegally passing slower moving cars on a double yellow line while approaching the crest of a hill.

Chief Wain said this about the crash; "In this case, the law broken was passing on a double yellow line. The real cause of this crash appears to be impatience and stands as a strong word of warning to motorists that their actions have deadly consequences to innocent victims."
