Tesla Drivers In Chicago Left Out In The Cold

The cold snap that’s freezing Chicago residents hasn’t been very good to their vehicles, either – mainly, electric vehicles.

The freezing weather has resulted in several charging stations breaking down, forcing motorists to wait in long lines to charge their vehicles. As a result, vehicles are dying before they can get their turn at the charging station. "I have seen at least 10 cars get towed away from here because the cars, they died, they've run out of battery,” says Tesla owner Brandon Welbourne. “It's too cold. It uses too much of the energy to try to keep the car at a somewhat reasonable temperature, so everybody is getting towed away and we have nowhere to charge."

Another Tesla driver, who had to wait more than two hours to get a charge, is calling on the car manufacturer to help keep its customers on the road. "I think just someone needs to come out here to make sure things are OK, because it's not OK," says John Baldys
