(Cleveland) - In a joint statement, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley and Cleveland Chief of Police Wayne Drummond say a 15-year-old suspect in the shooting of two other teenagers on Public Square turned himself in Wednesday afternoon. He's being held in the Juvenile Detention Center and faces seven charges.

On Saturday, November 25, at 8:40 p.m., a group of young people were gathered near an RTA bus stop near Public Square during the annual holiday lighting festival. They got into a fight. Prosecutors say the 15-year-old fired several shots into a group of people, wounding a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy. The suspect with the gun then ran into Tower City Center. The two victims survived.

The suspect is charged with one count of discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, four counts of felonious assault, one count of inducing panic, and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Prosecutor O'Malley said, “I want to thank the public for calling in tips and providing law enforcement with the information needed to apprehend this individual. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure our community’s safety.” Chief Drummond said, "The Cleveland Division of Police is committed to the safety of our community. We are grateful for the responses we received from the public. We will continue to work with our partners in ensuring that this individual will be held accountable."
