Brian Mast wore his military uniform from his service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at Capitol Hill on Friday (13 October) to show his support for the country following Hamas’s surprise attack last weekend. Later, the Florida congressman wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter: “As the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, I will always stand with Israel.” REPORTER: "What's with your threads today? Can you tell us anything about those?" MAST: "Tlaib’s got her flag, I’ve got my uniform."

Mr Mast’s reaction comes as the US House of Representatives remains paralysed after Steve Scalise dropped out of the Speaker race. The House Majority Leader was unable to get enough support from his conference for a floor vote, despite securing the party’s nomination in a 113-99 vote on Tuesday.
