A mechanic in South Carolina on Tuesday had no problem identifying the source of a hissing sound that was coming from under a customer’s hood. It was a huge snake.

The shocking discovery was made at Beach Automotive in Myrtle Beach, where the startled mechanic quickly closed the hood and called someone more qualified to handle snakes: Russell Cavender, who’s known as “The Snake Chaser,” according to a rep for Beach Automotive.

Despite having already been surprised by the snake, the unidentified mechanic and his coworkers received an even bigger shock when Cavender showed up untangled the snake from around the car’s engine. It was only then that they realized it was an albino boa constrictor that measured a whopping eight feet long, Cavender says. “I have found many many things underneath the hood of cars,” the Snake Chaser reports. “Possums, squirrels, rats, and a several snakes -- but never an eight-foot albino boa constrictor.”
