Elon Musk's Brain Implant Startup Neuralink to Begin Human Trials

Neuralink is ready to begin offering brain implants to paralysis patients as part of the PRIME study, which is short for Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface and it's being done to evaluate both the safety and functionality of the implant.

In the trials, the patients will have a chip, which will be installed by a robot, and will be surgically placed in the portion of the brain that controls the ability to move. The chip will then send brain signals to an app with the goal of granting people the ability to control a computer cursor or keyboard using just their thoughts alone. Musk was inspired by science fiction authors like Iain Banks.

If you're interested, you can sign up for the patient registry on the Nuralink website.
