Workers at Michigan State University made quite the discovery - a 142-year-old astronomy building previously lost to history.

Workers were installing hammock posts near the dorms when they came across an observatory building dating back to 1881.

The circular building is 16 feet in diameter and was used to house the university's first telescope.

School officials now plan to properly document and analyze the building.
