A Harvard Business School professor who co-authored research on honesty is under fire for fabricating the project’s findings.

Francesca Gino has taken part in a number of studies that examine how honest people are in certain situations, such as a 2012 paper that found people are more likely to be truthful when filling out tax or insurance forms if they’re asked about their honesty up front, according to the New York Times. "The irony of this being a story about data fraud in a paper on inducing honesty is not lost on me," says Harvard Business School's Max Bazerman, who worked with Gino on one of the studies.

The alleged deception has been uncovered by a company called Data Colada, which says it found “tell-tale signs of fraud” in Gino’s data. Although Gino says she’s “limited into what I can say publicly” about the accusations, she adds, "I want to assure you that I take them seriously and they will be addressed."
