Summit County Inmate Captured

UPDATE: Conrad was captured Wednesday morning. The U.S. Marshal's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force says they received a tip that Conrad was on a bicycle in the area of Market St. and Aqueduct St., about three miles from where he escaped. Officers from the Task Force, Akron Police, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol aviation unit came to the scene. Conrad was spotted on train tracks along North Arlington and East North Streets, just north of downtown Akron.

Yet to be determined is how Conrad escaped from the deputy who was taking him to the medical appointment.

(Akron) - Summit County jail inmate Jason Lyle Conrad escaped Tuesday morning as he was being taken to a doctor's appointment in West Akron.

Conrad was handcuffed and was in a walking boot from a previous injury. The Sheriff's Office says when a deputy was removing Conrad from the transport vehicle, he was able to escape. The escaped happened outside Summa Health on 1 Park West Drive in Akron, close to the White Pond Road exit off I-77.

Conrad is 5'9" tall, weighs 150 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing an orange jail jump suit. He may have taken off the walking boot. He was handcuffed at the time he escaped.
