Global lithium consumption has increased by more than 41 percent in the last two years, and hundreds of new mines are being constructed to meet demand.

However, lithium prices also dropped sharply in 2023. And the environmental impacts of lithium mining are still being studied.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk once called lithium " the new oil".
