Walk This Way! Guardians Offense Comes Alive in 9th to Top Yankees 3-2

BRONX, NY

The Cleveland Guardians offense couldn't get anything going off Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German for 8+ innings, but little did it matter as the Guardians etched the signature win on this young season, topping the Yankees 3-2 in the Bronx on Monday night. Guardians starting pitcher Cal Quantrill looked great most of the way despite giving up two runs in the 3rd inning, keeping the Guardians in the game throughout despite their offensive struggles. The Guardians had a hit in the first inning, an Amed Rosario single, and had nothing until they got the bases loaded in the 9th inning with only one out, when Josh Naylor tied the game with a 2-run single off Clay Holmes. Mike Zunino then had a great at-bat, fouling off many pitches before walking in the go-ahead run Jose Ramirez. Emmanuel Clase then came in to nail down the dramatic victory with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 9th to get the save. Aaron Judge did not play for the Yankees. The two teams get back to action tomorrow night in the Bronx, first pitch 7:05pm
