Emerson Takes One to the House in Browns Preaseason Win over Jaguars

Jacksonville, FL -- The Cleveland Browns' offense got off to a rocky start in their first preseason game of the season. On the second down of the game, Watson hit a wide-open Anthony Schwartz on a slant route that was immediately dropped. Cleveland's starting center Nick Harris dropped to the ground on the same play and had to be carted off the field with a lower-body injury. In the three drives that Watson was given with the offense, he completed just one pass for 7 yards on a quick dot to David Njoku. The Browns proved to be the deeper roster on Friday night as they went on to cruise to a 24-13 win over the Jaguars.

Training camp standout and rookie cornerback Martin Emerson showed why he has been the talk of the town leading up to the first preseason game. With 30 seconds to go in the first half, Emerson outmanned his match-up and ripped the football right from his hands, stiff-arming the first attempted tackler on his way to the house for a pick-six. Browns' rookie tailback Jerome Ford led the Browns in all-purpose yards with 102 total yards, finding the end zone both on the ground and in the air.

The Cleveland Browns will head back to camp to prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles in their second preseason game of the season. The kickoff is set for 1:00 pm ET at Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
