Two-Year-Old In Lorain Shot In Head; Relative Arrested

(Lorain) - Lorain Police have arrested a man, charging him with felonious assault, in the shooting of a two-year-old child in the head.

Police were called out to 2309 W. 24th Street late Wednesday night, as well as to Lorain Mercy Hospital, on reports of a child being shot in the head. Lorain Police were told that a two-year-old boy had been shot in the head while sitting in his high chair. The same witnesses say they had seen a man -- a possible relative of the little boy -- holding a shotgun just before the child was shot.

28-year-old Benjamin Richardson of Lorain (see mug shot below) was arrested, and charged with felonious assault.

The little boy was taken to a Cleveland hospital, where he is being treated.

This is the second instance this week in Greater Cleveland of a little boy bieng shot in the head. In Cleveland, a five-year-old picked up a gun, pulled the trigger, shooting himself int he head. That little boy died from his injuries.
