Kroger, Giant Eagle Announce New Mask Rules

Old Woman In Grocery Store

Kroger announced on Wednesday that as of Thursday, May 20, both customers and employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer have to wear a facial covering in-store unless there's a local requirement. Unvaccinated workers still must wear one and so do pharmacy and clinic workers even if they've received their shots. Kroger is asking customers who have not been vaccinated to continue to mask up.

Giant Eagle announced on Tuesday that its mask requirement would no longer apply to fully vaccinated customers and employees as of Monday, May 24.

Meijer, Trader Joe's, Target and Walmart are major retailers who have already said that fully vaccinated customers do not need to wear face coverings, but they are still required for those unvaccinated.

Costco is no longer requiring them for fully vaccinated customers in US locations where there are no state or local mask mandates.

Ohio's statewide mask mandate will officially end on June 2.
