Vigil Held For Five-Year-Old Allegedly Murdered By Father

(Parma) - A vigil was held Monday evening for five-year-old Jax Ponomarenko, who was allegedly killed by his father last Thursday. a Go Fund Me account has been started to help cover the expenses of Jax's funeral.

Jax's father, Matthew Ponomarenko, called 911 last Thursday to say he had "heard voices" and beat his son with a baseball bat.

Matthew Ponomarenko was in Parma Municipal Court on Monday. Judge Ken Spanagel continued a no bail order for Matthew Ponomarenko, and bound his case over to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. At his hearing, which was done by video, Ponomarenko was wearing a protective vest, and said nothing,other than to answer the judge's questions "Yes" and "No."
