(Wood County) - A college football player from Brunswick died over the weekend in an accident on an ATV. Police in Wood County's Portage Township say that about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, an ATV hit a ditch. Killed in the crash was Curtis Helman, 19. Helman, who was from Brunswick, was a sophomore football player at Heidelberg University.
A woman who was on the ATV was injured and was taken to the hospital.
Heidelberg University says Helman left a positive impression on everyone he encountered, including his teammates.
The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
