Cleveland Councilman Kenneth Johnson Under FBI Investigation

(Cleveland) - Kenneth Johnson, who has been on Cleveland City Council 40 years, is under investigation by the FBI, that according to reports by 3 News.

The reports say Johnson, and two others, are named in federal subpoenas dating back more than a year. The investigation appears to be tied to Johnson's use of City Council expenses, and federal money given by the city to the now-defunct nonprofit Buckeye Shaker Square Development Corporation.

3 News reporter Mark Naymik once wrote a series of articles for cleveland.com about how Johnson used his city expense account, receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in reimbursement with limited documentation. The articles also said how the nonprofit couldn't account for money earmarked by Johnson.

Nobody has been charged, and Johnson told 3 news he was unaware of the FBI probe.
