Missing Nurse Rescued, Kidnapper Killed By FBI

(Cuyahoga Falls) - A Cuyahoga Falls woman, missing for about a week, was found Tuesday night in Louisiana, and is safe.

Nicole Bronowski, a nurse at Akron Children's Hospital, had been missing since the day before Thanksgiving. Later, it was determined that her mother had been killed in her home in Belmont County, near Wheeling, West Virginia.

Police agencies linked the disappearance and the murder, and investigators determined that James Edward Hawley was the suspect. Hawley was known by both women.

Hawley was tracked down at a motel in central Louisiana. There was a confrontation while the arrest warrant was being executed, and FBI agents shot Hawley. Bronowski was found safe.

Bronowski is expected to return to Ohio soon.

No indication has been given as for a motive for the kidnapping, or the murder of Bronowski's mother. There's also been no confirmation of how the women knew Hawley.
